Blackjack Rules

Understanding the blackjack rules is probably most important for those who are going to play online blackjack. With playing online blackjack as compared to playing at a land based casino the rules are virtually the same.

When playing blackjack the objective is for you the player to try to beat the dealers hand with seeing who comes closer to twenty one. The card values in blackjack are all face cards from 10, Jack, Queen and King are all worth 10 points; cards 2-9 are face value and the Ace is either 1 or 11 however you choose to play it.

With all blackjack rules you must first make your initial bet, before you are dealt your cards. The dealer --online casino-- deals two cards to each player including two cards to the dealer.

For you to beat the dealer your hand must rank higher than the dealers, if you are dealt a natural blackjack --21-- you are automatically the winner. If both you and the dealer end up having the same score, neither of you is the winner.

Online Casino -

If both you and the dealer end up having a natural blackjack, this scenario is called a Tie or a Push, in which case you get your money back. With blackjack rules the dealer must always stand on 17, but will always hit a hand with a score of up to 16.

The following are the blackjack rules for different situations in a game of online blackjack:

  • Split: When you are dealt two cards of the same value, you are allowed to split your hand and play both of these cards as individual hands. Your bet that you had placed on your initial hand will then be duplicated and placed on your second hand.

If you are dealt a pair of Aces, you are allowed to take one extra card only. Usually any winning 21 hand that you obtain after splitting a pair will be paid out at 1-to-1.

  • Doubling Down: In blackjack the blackjack rules state that you are allowed to double down, which means you may double your bet after receiving your first two cards have been dealt to you. This option is only available after been dealt your first two cards.
  • Insurance: This is a side bet against the possibility of the dealer getting a blackjack. You may only take insurance if you do not have a blackjack and only if the dealers first card is an Ace. Usually insurance costs half of your original bet.
